October is the new Spring for Cornwall, or so we are told. But that is like trying to choose between a cream tea and a pint of Betty Stogs sure they are each gorgeous but there is really no point in trying to state which is best, just don't have them together - so lets focus on October 2025 .
For me, October is a month that embodies the essence of exploration and the beauty of change in the landscape. As the leaves transition from vibrant greens to a stunning palette of reds, oranges, and browns, the scenery becomes a breathtaking canvas that invites me to venture outdoors. The crisp autumn air carries with it a refreshing quality, making every walk feel invigorating. The rustle of leaves underfoot and the sight of nature preparing for the winter months create a sense of connection to the environment that is both grounding and inspiring.
This month is also synonymous with a variety of festivals that celebrate the harvest season and the rich cultural traditions that accompany it. From local farmers' markets brimming with seasonal produce to lively community events featuring music, crafts, and delicious food, there is always something happening to engage the senses. The aroma of freshly baked pasties and hearty soups fills the air, making it impossible to resist indulging in the seasonal flavors that October has to offer. It has to be Oysters for me - Falmouth Oyster Festival is a highlight of the year for locals and visitors alike.
As the days grow shorter and the evenings become longer, I find immense comfort in the simple pleasures of life. Sitting in front of a cozy fire, whether indoors or outdoors, becomes a cherished ritual. The warmth of the flames creates a soothing atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. I love to curl up on the sofa with a good book, wrapped in a soft blanket, with nourishing music playing in the background.
October is a time of year that encapsulates a multitude of experiences—each one rich with meaning and joy. It is a month that invites exploration, celebration, and the simple pleasures of life, reminding me to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us as we transition into the colder months ahead. Oh and don't forget some Betty Stoggs, fine Cornish Ale or some fantastic local fizz such as Camel Valley
which goes so well with Fal Native Oysters
